Wonder of water

Infants and toddlers are naturally attracted to water play. There is just something wonderful about the cool spray of water and the soothing and relaxing effect of warm water.

About 2 inches of water in a shallow tray or plastic container is all you need for children to have fun.
If you are doing this activity indoors just put the container on some old towels.

SAFETY: Infants and toddlers rely on your constant attention when they around water, whether it is the ocean or pool, bath or even a tray of water.

If you are outside you will probably be able to find lovely rocks and leaves, sticks and dirt to add to the water.
If you are inside add some small plastic containers or bottles or spoons and plastic cups or bowls.
And who would have known they were learning about full and empty, wet and dry, heavy and light and so much more than just the amazing wonder of water!

Water play is often my saviour! At the moment the twins are having fun collecting leaves and stones to go into their's lovely to watch them explore and create with such a simple medium isn't it?

Yes my twins always both loved playing with water from a very early age and we were so lucky to live in sunny sydney where they could play outside more days than not.

My kids love water play. We have had a few days that were warm enough to have our mud kitchen open for play this spring and the girls just loved pouring, mixing and finding fun things to add to their pots full of water. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas on the outdoor play party!

My daughter has so much fun playing with trays of water. Water is such a wonderful sensory element for play. Thank you for sharing at The Outdoor Play Party, and we hope you come by again this Friday to share another idea.
