Mud Play

pre school mud play
Look at the tentative first hand movements of a child who has not experienced the opportunity to play in the mud.

pre k mud play
Look at the absolute joy and confidence of a child who has been able to play completely in the mud with abandon.

University research has found out WHY mud play makes us happy. ‘Friendly’ bacteria activated a group of neurons that produce the brain chemical serotonin. Serotonin plays an important part in the regulation of mood and learning.

So it is not just it's connection to nature and the ancient world and the great sensory benefits and the fact that it feels fun that makes mud play so marvellous it is actually that there is a chemical in it that makes us feel happy as well!
